The Original At Home Chef:
Meet Chef Ken Durbin
Arriving at my grandmother’s apartment in Pennsylvania was worth every minute of the six-hour drive. Her tiny kitchen was the first place I learned to love food. It was the place where I watched my grandmother cook with her bare hands. It was where I learned how local, fresh ingredients could change a meal. Where I would watch in amazement at her ability to create beautiful food and have fun doing it, no matter the circumstances.
Those meals were more than family dinners. They were private, intimate experiences. It was over breaking bread with my grandmother that I learned a genuine smile will always make food taste better.
As the owner and head chef of The At Home Chef, I am on a journey to live out what my grandmother taught me. From how and where my ingredients grow to the ways they can be meticulously prepared into beautiful plates of food, I’m constantly building my appreciation for the food around me.
I am more than just a private chef. I want to recreate that feeling of my grandmother’s kitchen—this time, in your home. It’s my goal to create an intimate epicurean experience that combines your love for food with restaurant-quality precision.
With us, it’s more than a dinner party. We can help you to grow your love of food, make meaningful connections with friends and family, have fun, eat well, and feel pampered.
Watching my grandmother cook taught me a valuable lesson – to always prepare food with an intimate touch. From my grandmother’s small kitchen to your home, I do everything I can to fill your culinary experience one with love, laughter, and incredible food.
I can still hear my grandmother saying:
“Without love and a smile your food will never be seasoned right.”
